Teacher Appreciation Gifts: Body Scrubs

I asked my children what they thought we should make for Teacher Appreciation and they said. We should do Teacher Appreciation Gifts of Homemade Body Scrubs. This is a great idea because cooking with kids is a wonderful way to apply the academic knowledge that they have been using in school. They get to think about ingredients, the five senses, order of application, following directions, content, and they get to do product design. They also get to implement an idea they had for someone special. We went online to try to figure out how to make our own homemade body scrub.

Teacher Appreciation Gifts: Body Scrubs ingredients:

  • 2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1 packet of oatmeal. (make sure you run this through a food processor or blender, until it has a sandy consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or any other scent you might like)
  • 1 cup Olive oil
  • Mason jar or any other decorative jar

You can follow the instructions for this homemade body scrub.

The extensions for this activity can include writing. You can have your child write a card to go with their gift or write the recipe on the outside of the bottle. You can even have your child write a special post for their teacher. It is easy to see why this gift to pamper was one that my child wanted to make. It is a nice gift that can also be used for Mother’s day or you could use it in a center and have the children create their own spa business. The project is completely safe and non toxic so it is safe for children of all ages. The children can also think of other things to add to the body scrub to make it even more personal.
